Got water ?

While I was translating some lines of my scripts, I "accidently" found this picture on the web. I just wanted to do a small painting test on the coast region of my island to see if I could get such colors for my ocean. So I started speedpainting some reefs. After a lot of tainting I came up with this:

I´m quite happy with this result. But I think I can do better... but maybe not at 2 o´clock in the morning :) If you are interested, I can post a small tainting tutorial the next days.

Oh yeah. And a selfish motive here. I am wanting an interview with you in the near future :)

Ever listen to Neverwinter Nights Podcast? I'm one of the host and I love interviewing the modders :)

Yes, I'm quite happy with the results too! ;) Gorgeous! I almost had to flip between the shot and the pic to figure how which was real. ;)

@Michele: Thanks for you invitation to bouncy rock ! It´s a great place to share ideas and help each other out. A lot of talent you have gathered there !
As for the interview: I´m currently warming up writing english again.. so give me time to get some practice in speaking english. And right now, I only got some stuff to show but not to say. :)
Btw: I like the podcasts: Listened to them yesterday while bending some palms !

@e.c.patterson:
Glad you like it ! And I also have to flip from time to time to see in which window I´m actually painting. But that was more because it was late at night and I only had one eye opened :)

Love what you did with color tool there. I never quite used it for something like that before ;) Only to create a better sense of distance (deeper underwater something is the darker it will appear).

Love it! I'd be interested in tutorial on tinting the water like that... could never quite get it to look as yours does. :D

The only reason I can use tainting the way I do is, that my textures are acutally very dark. I´m planning to post a tainting and a small texture painting tutorial / workflow on the weekend that might me useful.
If I have the time, I will include "tainting a mountain" as well :)
So stay tuned ... !

The custom txture you have give a very different vibrancy - I'm really impressed! Love the colors.
